On Saturday, Big Ted and I were delighted to visit Chingford Lodge No. 2859, where we had the privilege of recognising something truly exceptional.

The Lodge’s Worshipful Master for 2023–2024, W.Bro Ricky Haynes, chose TLC Essex as his charity of the year—and what a year it’s been! Thanks to tireless efforts from Bro Ricky, with strong support from W.Bro Dickie Coyle (TLC Ambassador) and other dedicated members of the Lodge, their Ladies Night raised an incredible £3,500.

When added to previous donations made by the Lodge during 2024, along with some very generous individual contributions, the total raised under W.Bro Ricky’s stewardship reached a staggering £5,000.

This remarkable achievement immediately qualifies Chingford Lodge as Gold Patrons of the TLC Essex Appeal—making them just the third Gold Patron Lodge in the Province, alongside The Essex Mason Charitable Trust and Stanford-le-Hope Lodge No. 5217 at Orsett.

This level of support will keep one Essex hospital fully stocked with TLC Teddies for over a year, bringing comfort and reassurance to hundreds of children during some of the most distressing moments of their young lives.

Very well done, W.Bro Ricky, and huge congratulations to all the Brethren of Chingford Lodge. Your efforts have made a lasting difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your dedication, enthusiasm, and generosity.
