Last night, Big Ted and I had the pleasure of visiting Ostrea Lodge No. 8209, who meet at Wivenhoe, for what was—as always—a thoroughly enjoyable evening filled with warmth, ritual, and generosity.
The meeting was a true credit to the Lodge. W.Bro David Talbot Clarke, the Worshipful Master, delivered a very well-executed ceremony, supported by a strong team of officers who all performed to a high standard. The commitment to excellence in the Lodge room was clear to see and made for a memorable night.
The highlight for me came when I had the honour of presenting W.Bro Clarke with a TLC Essex Patron Certificate, in recognition of Ostrea Lodge’s £500 donation to the Appeal. Their generosity will help us continue providing teddy bears to children in A&E departments across Essex—offering comfort and reassurance when it’s needed most.
It’s always a pleasure to visit Ostrea Lodge, and this occasion was no exception. The dedication of the Brethren to both their ritual and charitable giving is what keeps the spirit of Freemasonry alive and well in our communities.
Thank you, Brethren, for your kind donation, your hospitality, and for helping us bring a little comfort to children across the county—one teddy at a time.
We look forward to visiting again soon!
