“Doctor Bear” to the Rescue – A Message from Buddy’s Mum

We’re always touched to hear how our TLC bears bring comfort to children during difficult times—and we recently received another heart-warming message, this time from Amy Jo, whose son Buddy was treated at Southend Hospitalafter a minor eye injury.
Amy Jo shared:
“This is ‘Doctor Bear’ who looked after Buddy after a toy accidentally caught him in the eye.
Buddy is very excited to tell everyone how he got him. It was so lovely when he picked which colour he wanted, and he felt really proud that he had it.
It’s such a lovely cause x”
Thank you, Amy Jo, for your kind words—and for allowing us to share Buddy’s story. We’re so glad Doctor Bear could be there to bring him a smile and a bit of reassurance during what must have been a scary moment.
These small bears play a big role. Whether it’s calming nerves, easing fears, or simply giving a child something to cuddle—TLC Essex bears help transform a traumatic hospital visit into something a little more bearable.
Stories like Buddy’s remind us just how meaningful your support is. Every donation helps us continue to provide bears to A&E departments across Essex, ensuring children like Buddy have a Doctor Bear of their own when they need one most.
Thank you again, Amy Jo—and give our best to Buddy and Doctor Bear!
