At TLC Essex, we often say that our teddy bears bring comfort to children during some of their most frightening and vulnerable moments—but sometimes, the impact is best expressed by those who’ve experienced it first-hand.

We recently received a touching message from Amy, a mum whose son was in Basildon Hospital a few years ago. She kindly shared the following:

“Your teddies really do make an incredible difference. Here is a photo of my poorly little soldier and his new favourite bear. I wasn’t aware of this Facebook page but, now I am, I shall be sharing it to everyone to share the love (and lots of donations).

Thank you, Amy, for your kind words and for taking the time to reach out and share your story. Messages like yours remind us why the TLC Essex Appeal exists—and the real difference that something as simple as a teddy bear can make in a moment of fear or pain.

Every bear we provide is made possible by the generosity of Freemasons, Lodges, Chapters, and individual supporters across Essex. Knowing that our bears are still treasured long after leaving the hospital is the greatest reward we could ask for.
