Big Ted and I were delighted to visit Blackwater Lodge No. 1977 to present them with a TLC Essex Patron Certificate, recognising their generous £500 donation to the Appeal.
The evening was nothing short of spectacular. With over 75 Brethren in attendance, the Lodge room was filled to capacity—drawn either by the desire to witness Bro. Stephen Powell’s excellent Passing to the Second Degree, or perhaps by the promise of the Lodge’s much-loved annual Burns Night celebrations! Either way, the atmosphere was lively, warm, and full of brotherly spirit.
The ceremony itself was delivered to a very high standard. W.Bro Brian Dack, as Worshipful Master, led the proceedings with precision and warmth, while W.Bro David Blundell, acting as Senior Deacon, conducted his part of the ritual with great skill and poise. It was a memorable demonstration of Masonic tradition at its finest.
Following the formalities, I had the pleasure of presenting the Lodge with their TLC Essex Patron Certificate. Their support will help us continue our mission of providing teddy bears to children in hospital emergency departments across Essex—offering comfort in what can often be frightening moments.
A huge thank you to all the Brethren of Blackwater Lodge for your generous donation, warm hospitality, and for making Big Ted and me feel so welcome. Whether for the ritual, the haggis, or the raffle—it was a night to remember!
