While Big Ted and the TLC Teddies were off on a mission of their own—heading north to set up for a fundraising event—I had the pleasure of making a solo visit to Edward the Confessor Lodge No. 3782 at Upminster.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and I was fortunate to witness the Initiation of Bro Scott Lane, a significant moment in any Mason’s journey and one that was carried out with care and dignity by the Lodge.
The highlight of my visit was the opportunity to present the Worshipful Master with a TLC Essex Patron Certificate, recognising the Lodge’s generous £500 donation to the Appeal. Their support ensures that we can continue to provide teddy bears to children in A&E departments across Essex, offering comfort and reassurance during times of distress.
It’s always a pleasure to see Lodges embracing the spirit of TLC, not only through donations but also through action—and I’m pleased to share that W.Bro Mike Jupp went one step further by volunteering to join the TLC team! His willingness to get involved is a perfect example of how individual Masons can help us extend the reach and impact of the Appeal.
Thank you to all the Brethren of Edward the Confessor Lodge for your support, generosity, and warm welcome. Even without Big Ted by my side, it was a night to remember!
