Big Ted and I were recently delighted to attend a meeting of Buckhurst Hill Lodge No. 8291 at Loughton, where we received a truly warm welcome—and even warmer generosity.
The evening featured a beautifully delivered Initiation Ceremony by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro Stewart Bowles, ably assisted by his son, Bro Vinnie Bowles, who served as Junior Deacon. It was a proud and touching display of family Freemasonry and a perfect example of the Craft’s future in good hands.
Following the ceremony, I had the honour of being presented with a £500 donation to the TLC Essex Appeal, making Buckhurst Hill Lodge official Patrons of the Appeal. Their contribution will go directly towards helping us continue to supply TLC teddy bears to children in hospital A&E departments across Essex—offering much-needed comfort in times of distress.
But the generosity didn’t stop there. The Lodge also donated half of the evening’s raffle proceeds, adding a further £120to the total. These combined gifts are not only financially impactful but are also a testament to the charitable spirit and brotherly love that define the Lodge.
Thank you to W.Bro Stewart Bowles, Bro Vinnie, and all the Brethren of Buckhurst Hill Lodge for your kindness, hospitality, and outstanding support. Your contribution will help us deliver smiles and reassurance—one teddy at a time.
