The 19th of October marked a truly memorable evening for Martello Lodge No. 7121 in Clacton, as the Brethren gathered for a special meeting that saw the installation of W.Bro Dave Hawtin, ProvGDC, into the Chair of King Solomon.
This was no ordinary meeting. With the RW Provincial Grand Master and most of the Provincial Executive in attendance, the Temple was filled to capacity—every seat taken in what can only be described as a tremendous show of support and celebration.
Amidst the grandeur and occasion, I had the privilege of presenting Martello Lodge with a TLC Essex Patron Certificate, in recognition of their generous £500 donation to the Appeal. Their contribution places them among the many Lodges across Essex who are helping us provide comfort to children during difficult and distressing times in hospital A&E departments.
Following the presentation, I gave a short talk on the impact of the TLC Essex Appeal—how a simple teddy bear can make a profound difference. I was deeply touched when, moved by the message, one Brother approached me afterwards to make a personal donation of £250.
It’s moments like these that highlight the generosity, compassion, and spirit of Essex Freemasonry.
Our sincere thanks to W.Bro Dave Hawtin, the Brethren of Martello Lodge, and all who made the evening so special. Your support is making a difference—one teddy, and one smile, at a time.
