On Thursday 12th September, Ixion Lodge No. 2501 met at Harlow for a truly memorable evening—welcoming a new Brother into Freemasonry and generously supporting two important charitable causes.
The highlight of the meeting was the Initiation of Bro. Frankie Munns, a Medical Practitioner working at Princess Alexandra Hospital. It was especially fitting to welcome a healthcare professional into the Craft on a night where two health-related charities were being supported.
As Chairman of TLC Essex, I was honoured to be invited to the meeting, along with W.Bro Brian McGuinness, Essex Lodges Appeal Coordinator for the Southend Hospital Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal. Following a short talk on the history and goals of the TLC Essex Appeal, the Worshipful Master proudly presented me with a donation that brought Ixion Lodge to Patron status—having now contributed a total of £500. I was delighted to present the Lodge with their official TLC Essex Patron Certificate in recognition of their generous support.
W.Bro Brian also received a remarkable £1,000 donation for the Spotlight Appeal, which aims to fund advanced radiotherapy equipment for Southend Hospital—eliminating the need for the current claustrophobic facial moulds used during treatment.
The evening was rounded off with a joyful Festive Board attended by 52 Brethren and guests, dining together in true Masonic spirit of Peace, Love, and Unity.
Our sincere thanks to Ixion Lodge for their continued support and generosity—it truly makes a difference, one life and one teddy at a time.
