This week, Big Ted and I had the pleasure of visiting St Philip Lodge No. 4221 at Saxon Hall to present their TLC Essex Patron Certificate, recognising their generous £500 donation to the Appeal.
It was one of those meetings that truly showcased the strength of brotherhood and teamwork. With a number of Officers unavoidably absent, members of the Lodge pulled together, stepping up to ensure the evening went ahead. Then, just minutes before the meeting was due to start, the Worshipful Master was unfortunately unable to attend.
That’s when W.Bro Len Abrahams, a guest at the meeting, calmly volunteered to take the Chair—and did a brilliant job installing W.Bro Tom Brown as the new Master. It was a shining example of Masonic spirit, flexibility, and mutual support. Well done, Len!
Beyond the excellent work in the Temple, there was more generosity to be found at the Festive Board. I was especially touched when Bros. Nigel, Ashley, and Mike approached me to make personal donations to the TLC Essex Appeal. And thank you also to Liam and the other Brethren who supported us by purchasing TLC lapel pins.
Moments like these remind us that the success of the TLC Appeal is built not just on Lodge donations, but on the kindness and commitment of individual Freemasons who want to make a difference.
Thank you to all at St Philip Lodge for your generosity, resilience, and support—one teddy at a time.
