TLC Essex had a fantastic day in the sunshine last weekend as we joined the wonderful Stisted Summer Garden Fete to raise awareness and vital funds for the TLC Essex Appeal. Taking pride of place in the marquee, Big Ted was on hand to help welcome visitors and promote the cause—and he certainly drew a crowd!
We were expertly supported throughout the day by TLC Centre Reps Les Bond (Harwich, Brightlingsea, Clacton, Colchester and Manningtree) and Ronnie Rowell (Loughton), along with Ronnie’s wife, Jean, whose enthusiasm and dedication helped keep the stall running smoothly from start to finish.
Thanks to their efforts—and the generosity of everyone who visited—we raised an impressive £600 through the sale of TLC lapel pins and our beloved 25” TLC Bears. A special thank you goes to all the Brethren who came by to show their support.
One of the day’s highlights was the popular “Guess Big Ted’s Name” competition, which raised £250 alone. Congratulations to Kathleen O’Kane, who guessed correctly and took home the prize!
But the biggest surprise came when W.Bro Graeme Lockwood, Director of Essex Mason Ltd and Trustee of The Essex Mason Charitable Trust, presented us with a cheque for £5,000—an incredible and unexpected boost for the Appeal. Thank you, Essex Mason!
We’re also grateful to Danielle and Elizabeth from Event Decor Co for generously loaning and setting up the balloon arch in full TLC colours, adding that perfect final touch.
A truly unforgettable day—thank you all!
