TLC Essex would like to extend heartfelt thanks to W.Bro Martin Sycamore, Charity Steward of Aeronautical Lodge No. 9647, for his outstanding support at the recent Dunmow Flitch Trials held on Saturday 13th July.
As one of the organisers of this historic and much-loved local event, Martin saw a perfect opportunity to promote and raise funds for the TLC Essex Appeal. Setting up a dedicated TLC Essex stall on behalf of his Lodge, he was joined on the day by his 16-year-old granddaughter, Amber—who enthusiastically supported the cause and engaged visitors throughout the day.
Together, Martin and Amber ran a fun and family-friendly “Guess Big Ted’s Name” competition, while also selling TLC Essex lapel pins and our signature teddy bear merchandise. Their combined efforts raised an incredible £497—an amount Martin generously rounded up to a full £500 donation!
This fantastic contribution not only helps supply TLC bears to hospitals across Essex, but also raises awareness of our mission to bring comfort to children facing distress and trauma in A&E departments.
It’s always inspiring to see Freemasons involving family and community in their charitable work, and we’re especially grateful to Martin and Amber for going above and beyond to support the Appeal.
Thank you to all who took part, guessed a name, or purchased a pin—your generosity helps us keep the TLC spirit alive across Essex, one teddy at a time.
