On 25th March 2025, West Essex Lodge No. 2561 met at Harlow Masonic Hall for what turned out to be a truly special evening—full of generosity, unexpected coincidences, and outstanding company.
The Lodge was joined by W.Bro Phil Lovelock, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and guest speaker W.Bro Barry Stedman, who delivered a fascinating talk about the sinking of the SS Richard Montgomery during WWII—an incident steeped in intrigue and historical significance.
But it wasn’t just the talk that made headlines. During the meeting, the Brethren of West Essex Lodge voted to donate £250 each to four Masonic and community causes:
-
TLC Essex
-
Hamilton Court Masonic Housing Association
-
West Essex Hospice Appeal (WEHA)
-
Friends of Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court (Stisted)
It was only afterwards that everyone realised something quite remarkable—all four Chairmen of those respective organisations were actually in the room that evening! A complete coincidence, but a perfect example of Masonic unity and the deep connections that tie us together in charitable work.
On behalf of TLC Essex, a heartfelt thank you to West Essex Lodge for their continued support and generosity. Your donation helps us deliver comfort and care to children across Essex—one teddy at a time.
And to the other organisations supported on the night—congratulations, and well done West Essex Lodge for making such a meaningful impact!
